We all experience anxiety. But when is it a problem? And is it really best to let kids off the hook every time they get anxious? (spoiler alert - its not!) In this session we'll explore how anxiety is different from general stress, when anxiety is healthy and when it is a barrier to learning, and how to help anxious kids thrive at school and at home.
Olathe NEA, District Senior Leadership, and Olathe School Board Members invite you to a collaborative session focused on what we’ve heard- and what we’re doing- based on your feedback during Our District Dialogues. We’ll revisit the key themes shared by educators around mental health, professional development, and the public perception of our profession. You’ll hear updates on steps already taken and help shape the next phase of action to improve educator support and retention in Olathe. This is your opportunity to keep the conversation- and the progress- going.
Somewhere along the line, educators started to feel like they couldn't tell kids "no." The first word in PBIS is "positive" - but we still need to set healthy boundaries! This session will outline how to effectively set these boundaries with modern students who aren't always used to hearing that word.
