In today’s hyperconnected world, digital media plays a powerful role in shaping the mental health of young people. This interactive 90-minute session equips educators with the knowledge and tools to better understand the complex relationship between digital media use and student well-being. We’ll explore current research and trends around screen time, social media, and digital behavior, with a focus on early signs of mental health concerns. Participants will engage in breakout discussions and complete a "Digital Self Tech Check" to reflect on their own media use and perspectives. Educators will walk away with:
A deeper understanding of how digital media impacts youth mental health
Strategies to foster digital well-being in the classroom
Approaches to support students across developmental stages
Ready-to-use conversation starters and classroom activities
